Imagine watching rain find its way through a garden. It does not climb a pedestal. It gathers low, reaches roots, and quietly becomes part of what will grow.
Chapter 8 of the Tao Te Ching compares a good way of living to water: it benefits things and occupies places others overlook, without competing for importance.
The invitation is not to become invisible. It is to notice that being useful and being admired are different things. Some of the most generous work leaves very little evidence of the person who did it.
